The 5th Azerbaijan International Exhibition on Restoration, Reconstruction and Development of Karabakh (Rebuild Karabakh-2025) opened in Baku, highlighting the country’s large-scale rebuilding efforts in the liberated territories and the growing role of the construction sector in the national economy.
At the joint opening of BakuBuild 2025 and Rebuild Karabakh 2025, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs President Mammad Musayev said that 8.7% of Azerbaijani enterprises operate in the construction sector, which contributes 6.8% to GDP. He credited the growth to state infrastructure projects and private investments, adding that hundreds of projects have been launched across Karabakh and East Zangezur in the past two years, including new airports, roads, and railways.
Karabakh Revival Fund Chairman Rahman Hajiyev noted that 95% of demining work in Karabakh is funded by Azerbaijan’s own resources, describing the region as a “testing ground for innovation,” where smart city and smart village models were first applied.
Ilgar Isbatov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, said work on the second State Program for Karabakh Reconstruction will begin in 2027, once the first phase concludes in 2026. Master plans for Khankendi, Agdere, Khojavend, and Khojaly have been completed and are pending approval.
According to Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources, the Aghali Smart Village in Zangilan serves as a benchmark for green energy and sustainable urban planning, forming the foundation of Azerbaijan’s “Green Growth and Energy Corridors” initiative presented at COP29.
The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) also presented a dedicated stand for SMEs, showcasing industrial and construction products, materials, and equipment from around 10 enterprises. The exhibit promotes business opportunities and investment potential in Karabakh’s industrial parks and facilitates B2B meetings between entrepreneurs.
The Rebuild Karabakh exhibition will run through October 16 at the Baku Expo Center, underlining Azerbaijan’s ambition to turn the region into a hub of innovation, sustainability, and economic revival.
