Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze claimed that after the exposure of what he called “revolutionary schemes” through NGOs, protest financing in Georgia is now being routed through universities.
Speaking in response to a report by broadcaster Imedi Kvirisi, which alleged that demonstrations were supported by the Georgian University and former head of the Partnership Fund, Giorgi Bachiashvili, Kaladze said the revelations came as no surprise.
“This once again confirms his involvement in political processes,” Kaladze stated.
“The scheme of organizing revolutions through NGOs and splitting society has already been uncovered. Now, it seems, funds are being directed through universities. But everything will be addressed within the law.”
The mayor also dismissed opposition plans for what they described as a peaceful overthrow of the government on October 4.
“Nothing will happen on October 4,” Kaladze insisted. “The only event that day will be the celebration of the victory of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia. It will be a victory for our country and our people.”
