Azerbaijan has sharply increased crude oil exports to Germany this year, underscoring Europe’s growing reliance on Caspian energy.
According to the State Customs Committee, cited by Report, Baku shipped 841,915 tons of crude oil to Germany in the first eight months of 2025, worth $445.3 million. That marks a 36.1 percent jump in volume and a 9.6 percent rise in value compared with the same period last year.
Germany accounted for 5.3 percent of Azerbaijan’s total crude exports. Overall, Azerbaijan exported 15.9 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products between January and August, generating more than $8.39 billion in revenue.
Total foreign trade turnover for the country reached $32.1 billion, with exports at $17.1 billion and imports at $15.05 billion.
The surge in deliveries to Germany comes as Berlin continues to diversify away from Russian energy supplies, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s position as a key partner in Europe’s energy security strategy.
