From Ganja to Agstafa: Daily Trains Offer Faster, Smarter Travel

Baku, September 28, 2025

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) has launched its first-ever intraregional passenger services, linking Ganja, Mingachevir, and Agstafa with modern electric trains.

According to ADY, the new route will operate twice daily, providing improved mobility for residents of central and western Azerbaijan. The morning service departs Ganja at 5:45 a.m., reaching Mingachevir at 6:57 and continuing to Agstafa via Ganja, arriving at 9:48. The evening return begins at 4:00 p.m. from Agstafa, with stops in Ganja and Mingachevir before completing the round trip by 8:11 p.m.

Trains will stop at Mingachevir, Mingachevir Main, Goran, Ganja, Dallar, Govlar, Tovuz, and Agstafa. Passengers can choose from standard, standard+, business, and first-class cars, with fares starting at 2.60 manats for the Ganja–Mingachevir leg and 6.80 manats for Mingachevir–Agstafa. Free Wi-Fi will be available on board.

Ahead of the launch, ADY completed track repairs in the Mingachevir section and renovated Mingachevir station, including its waiting hall. The company expects the new line to serve up to 100,000 passengers annually.

Officials say the route will not only ease travel between key regional centers but also support economic growth and balanced regional development under Azerbaijan’s 2022–2026 social and economic strategy. The service is also seen as a boost to Mingachevir’s tourism potential.

Ganja, Tovuz, and Agstafa remain accessible via existing Baku–Gazakh–Baku and Baku–Agstafa–Baku trains, which continue to run daily in both directions.
