Political developments in Venezuela, including reports surrounding Nicolás Maduro’s arrest, are unlikely to trigger a sharp rise in global oil prices in the short term, Azerbaijani MP and economist Vugar Bayramov says, pointing to limited current production, low export volumes, and the time required to unlock the country’s vast oil reserves.

These include adjustments to taxation, social insurance, tariffs, excise duties and import regulations.
