More broadly, arrivals from South Asia dropped 20.2% to 267,794 visitors.
However, this decline was partly offset by growth from other parts of the continent.

Tourist numbers from Central Asia rose 21.7% to 219,747, while arrivals from Northeast Asia increased 32% to 84,913. Notably, visitors from China surged 41.7%, reaching 63,500 travelers.

In total, Azerbaijan welcomed 2.57 million foreign citizens and stateless persons from 189 countries in 2025, representing a 2.1% decrease compared with 2024.

The data point to a gradual reshaping of Azerbaijan’s inbound tourism geography, with declines in some traditional markets balanced by growing interest from others across Asia.
