The U20 European Championships held in Caorle, Italy, have officially concluded.
According to the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, the national freestyle wrestling team delivered a strong performance, earning five medals in total: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze. With 133 team points, Azerbaijan finished second overall in Europe, behind Georgia (164 points) and ahead of Ukraine (81 points).
Competing under the guidance of head coach Arif Abdullayev and coaches Rovshan Hajiyev and Ashraf Aliyev, the medalists included:
Vasif Baghirov (57 kg) – Gold
Muradxan Omarov (79 kg) – Silver
Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) – Silver
Omar Gulmammadov (74 kg) – Bronze
Anar Jafarli (92 kg) – Bronze
This result marks a significant achievement for Azerbaijan’s junior wrestling program, reaffirming its status as one of Europe’s leading wrestling nations.
