The peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia has received international recognition after being selected as the basis for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2026, presented by the Sheikh Zayed Foundation in the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Foundation, Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, is among the award’s recipients. The decision highlights the signing of the agreement establishing peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which brought an end to decades of conflict and humanitarian hardship in the South Caucasus.
The 2026 laureates were selected by an independent international jury composed of prominent figures and experts in dialogue, coexistence, and conflict resolution.
Mohammed Abdulsalam, Secretary-General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity and a member of the jury, said the committee chose to honor the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agreement as a historic diplomatic achievement that reflects the mission of the award to promote dialogue, coexistence, and global peace.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi on February 4.
