Azerbaijan’s women’s chess team has reached the decisive stage of the World Championship in Linares, Spain, after a tense semifinal battle against Kazakhstan ended with no winner.

The teams played two matches, and both encounters finished with the same score — 2:2. With the result tied, the finalist will be determined on November 23 in a rapid-play tiebreak.

Team Azerbaijan features Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanym Balajayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, and Ayan Allahverdiyeva, led by team captain Ilaha Kadimova.
