The average monthly nominal salary of salaried employees in Azerbaijan reached 1,095 manats (approximately $644 USD) in January–May 2025, marking a 9.1% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the State Statistical Committee.
The highest average earnings were recorded in key sectors such as mining, financial and insurance services, information and communication technologies (ICT), professional and scientific activities, as well as transport and logistics.
As of June 1, 2025, the total number of formally employed workers across the country stood at 1.77 million. Of that, 873,000 were employed in the public sector, while 896,200 worked in the private sector.
Breakdown of Employment by Sector:
18.7% – Trade and vehicle repair
18.6% – Education
13.6% – Industry
8.6% – Healthcare and social services
6.6% – Construction
6.3% – Public administration, defense, and social protection
4.2% – Transport and logistics
3.9% – Scientific and technical professions
2.4% – Agriculture, forestry, and fishing
2.3% – Financial and insurance services
14.8% – Other economic activities
The data reflects continued growth in Azerbaijan’s wage market, especially in strategic and high-skilled sectors, though wage disparity between industries remains notable.
