Gold prices drew global attention this week after reaching new highs, briefly dipping at the start of trading before resuming an upward trend. The volatility has left both buyers and sellers uncertain about the right moment to act.

Some investors in Azerbaijan are choosing to sell amid elevated prices to secure profits, while others are delaying transactions in anticipation of further gains. Market participants note that the number of people willing to sell has increased, yet many remain cautious, expecting continued upward momentum.

Short-term price movements remain difficult to predict. Certain investors are driven by immediate liquidity needs or expectations of a correction, whereas others continue to accumulate gold, viewing the current rally as part of a longer-term trend.

Geopolitical tension remains a central factor supporting gold’s appeal as a safe-haven asset. At the same time, declining confidence in cryptocurrencies has redirected part of investor demand toward traditional stores of value, reinforcing upward pressure on precious-metal prices.

Several international financial institutions have suggested that gold could climb significantly in the long run, with some projections pointing toward levels as high as $6,000 per ounce under sustained global uncertainty.

Analysts therefore argue that, absent urgent financial need, holding gold for a longer period may be a rational strategy if current macroeconomic and political conditions persist.

Local jewelry prices in Azerbaijan also remain elevated. Italian-made 750-grade gold is selling at roughly 240 manats, 585-grade Turkish gold around 180 manats, and 583-grade Russian gold near 160 manats, reflecting the broader strength of global pricing trends.

For now, the gold market remains defined by uncertainty-where investor decisions depend not only on present valuations but also on expectations shaped by geopolitical risk, monetary conditions, and shifting confidence across global asset classes.
