Medical professionals in Azerbaijan are warning about potential health risks linked to the growing online promotion of decorative accessories made using human blood and hair, a niche trend circulating on social media platforms.
Vendors advertising such items claim only a small quantity of blood is required, which is then mixed with materials such as epoxy resin to create bracelets or keepsakes. Interest from buyers appears visible in social media comments and orders, despite the unusual nature of the products.
Health experts, however, stress that drawing blood outside licensed medical facilities poses serious medical and hygienic dangers.
According to physician Zakir Guliyev, even minor breaches of стерility can lead to infection or transmission of blood-borne diseases.
Improper blood collection may also cause severe bleeding, particularly in individuals with clotting disorders or underlying medical conditions. Specialists emphasize that blood sampling must be performed only in clinical settings and by licensed medical personnel, where safety and monitoring can be ensured.
Without such safeguards, experts warn, individuals may face preventable health complications. Doctors therefore urge the public to avoid participating in practices that involve non-medical blood collection for decorative or commercial purposes.
