Tax benefits on the import of electric and hybrid vehicles to Azerbaijan are set to expire at the end of this year, prompting lawmakers to propose an extension.
At a meeting of the Milli Majlis committee on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship on Wednesday, MP Azer Badamov suggested discussing the matter with relevant agencies and prolonging the incentives if deemed appropriate.
Badamov also proposed amendments to the Tax Code to raise the annual turnover limit for simplified tax.
Since January 1, 2022, imports and sales of electric cars, hybrid vehicles, as well as level 2 and 3 charging devices in Azerbaijan have been exempt from value-added tax (VAT). The current exemptions will lapse on December 31, 2025.
