A 12-year-old Azerbaijani TikTok blogger, Zemfira Mukhtarova, has died in New York City after being struck by a subway train while attempting to film an extreme video, according to ABC7NY.
The tragedy occurred around 3:00 a.m. in Brooklyn, near the Marcy Avenue station. Zemfira and her 13-year-old friend were reportedly train surfing – clinging to the outside of a moving train – when they lost balance and fell. Both girls died at the scene.
Zemfira’s 11-year-old sister, Maryam, told reporters that the young influencer had secretly left home while the family was asleep.
Their mother, Natalia Rudenko, said her daughter had shown interest in train-surfing videos but had always assured the family she would never try it herself.
“She liked to watch these clips but promised she would never do it. We had no idea she left home that night,” Rudenko said.
The incident became public on October 5, when U.S. media reported that two girls were found dead on top of a subway car in Brooklyn. Police later confirmed the victims were aged 12 and 13.
Local authorities have warned about a dangerous surge in social media challenges involving subway stunts, which have led to multiple deaths and injuries in recent years.
