Youth Paddlers Shine at Baku Open Canoe and Kayak Championship

The Baku Department of Youth and Sports, in partnership with the Azerbaijan Canoe and Kayak Federation, hosted the Baku Open Youth and Junior Canoe and Kayak Championship, drawing nearly 100 participants from Baku and Mingachevir, Report reports.

Athletes competed in 500-meter races across multiple categories, including single and double kayaks, single canoes, and rowing events. The championship delivered high-intensity moments and fierce competition, with winners receiving diplomas and medals.

Organizers say the event aims not only to assess the skill levels of young athletes but also to scout talent for the national junior team.

In an earlier heat, Sahib Ayyubzade (2009, Mingachevir) also clocked an impressive 1:43.27.

With Mingachevir athletes dominating the leaderboard, the city once again reinforced its role as a training ground for Azerbaijan’s future paddling champions.
