Armenia’s National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said the August 2025 Washington summit – which resulted in the signing of an Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement – marked a major breakthrough that has transformed the political atmosphere across the region.
According to Al Jazeera, Grigoryan made the remarks during a panel discussion titled “Armenia-Azerbaijan Sustainable Peace: The Washington Agreement and a Shared Future” held on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.
“We are no longer discussing the conflict – we are discussing how to strengthen peace,” Grigoryan stressed.
He said that ratifying the peace treaty and reopening economic links in the region are essential steps toward institutionalizing what he called a historic achievement for both countries.
Grigoryan emphasized that expanding economic cooperation based on mutual interdependence is now a key priority for Armenia.
