France defeated Azerbaijan 3-0 in their Group D clash of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Parc des Princes on Thursday night.
The hosts took the lead in first-half stoppage time, when Kylian Mbappé found the net in the 45 + 2 minute. Adrien Rabiot doubled the score on 69 minutes, and substitute Florian Thauvin sealed the result six minutes from time.
For Azerbaijan, it was their second defeat of the campaign after a 5-0 loss to Iceland and a 1-1 draw with Ukraine. Head coach Ayhan Abbasov fielded a defensive lineup anchored by goalkeeper Shahruddin Magomedaliev, but the side struggled to contain France’s relentless pace and movement.
The French team, led by Didier Deschamps, dominated possession and secured their third straight victory in the group.
Azerbaijan will next host Ukraine in Baku as they look to recover from the loss.
