UNICEF Representation in Azerbaijan to Close by September 3, 2025

The UNICEF Representation in Azerbaijan will cease its operations in the country starting from September 3, 2025.

This was reported by Irina Mazur, the Regional Head of UNICEF Communications for Europe and Central Asia, in response to an inquiry from Report.

“UNICEF’s operations in Azerbaijan will be terminated on September 3, 2025. UNICEF will continue its cooperation with partners in Azerbaijan through its regional office and headquarters,” she stated.

It should be noted that on March 3, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, during a meeting with the regional director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office for Europe and Central Asia, Gwi-Yeop Son, announced that further partnership with some UN agencies would continue through the project cooperation mechanism in alignment with national priorities.

It was also conveyed that future cooperation with certain UN bodies will proceed through direct work with their headquarters.

On July 29, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan Saja Faruk Abdullah to mark the completion of her diplomatic mission.
