“As is customary, the official announcement of the appointment of the new Resident Coordinator will be made by the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Spokesperson closer to the date the new coordinator assumes office,” Azevedo said.

To ensure continuity during the transition period, an experienced Resident Coordinator will serve in an acting capacity at the UN office in Azerbaijan starting January 15, 2026, she added.

Vladanka Andreeva has headed the UN representation in Azerbaijan since July 1, 2021.
