Ukraine to Boost Peace Talks and Defense Industry, Says Zelensky

KYIV | July 17, 2025 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pledged to intensify the country’s diplomatic efforts to achieve a “just end” to the ongoing war and to reinforce national security through a stronger defense sector.

Speaking during a session of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament), Zelensky emphasized the importance of modernizing governance and supporting those most affected by the war.

“We will continue the digitalization of all processes and public services,” he said, adding that the government must now deliver tangible defense strategies, expanded support for veterans, and concrete programs for families of Ukrainian soldiers.

Zelensky also called for a more pragmatic and structured approach to Ukraine’s social policy, urging the cabinet to address the needs of the civilian population with greater clarity and responsibility.

Looking ahead, he said Kyiv is poised to become not just a recipient of military aid, but a key contributor to global security and a leading weapons manufacturer. This aligns with Ukraine’s broader strategy to build a resilient, self-sufficient defense industry as the war with Russia enters its third year.
