Women in Ukraine with medical or pharmaceutical education will now be automatically registered for military service—without the need to appear in person.
The decision was announced by Taras Melnychuk, the government’s representative in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, via Telegram on July 30, following a Cabinet meeting.
According to Melnychuk, amendments have been made to several regulations, including the procedure for military registration of conscripts, reservists, and liable persons; the regulation on territorial recruitment and social support centers; and the procedure for mobilization during special periods.
The changes streamline how local self-government bodies manage military records, update reporting documentation, and align personal registration forms with military service records. Crucially, the new system provides for automatic enlistment of women with medical or pharmaceutical degrees into the military register without requiring their physical presence.
Additionally, it clarifies the roles of educational institutions and recruitment centers in this process and improves the mechanism for entering data into Ukraine’s “Oberig” Unified State Register of Conscripts.
The government has also ruled that individuals who turn 25 and have not completed military service or basic military training will now automatically receive the rank of reserve soldier or sailor upon being added to the registry—again, without needing to report to recruitment offices.
