August 7, 2025 — Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan
Araz-Nakhchivan endured a rough start to their maiden European campaign, falling 0–4 at home to Cyprus’ Omonia in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round.
As reported by İdman.biz, Elmar Bakhshiyev’s side was outclassed on home turf, conceding twice within the opening 22 minutes. Cypriot international Loizou struck first in the 13th minute before doubling the lead nine minutes later, punishing defensive lapses by the hosts.
The second half brought no relief for the Azerbaijani debutants. Evandro extended Omonia’s lead in the 55th minute, followed swiftly by a fourth goal from Jovetić in the 58th, sealing a dominant performance by the visitors.
The 0–4 result leaves Araz-Nakhchivan with a mountain to climb in the return leg and marks a sobering introduction to European football for the newly qualified side.
