UEFA Champions League: Qarabağ Falls 4-2 to Ajax in Baku

Qarabağ FK suffered a 4–2 home defeat to Dutch side Ajax in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, despite an energetic performance at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku.

The Azerbaijani champions opened the scoring early, but were unable to hold off Ajax’s late surge.

Match Summary

Qarabağ struck first in the 10th minute, when forward Camilo Durán capitalized on an early chance to put the home side ahead. Ajax responded shortly before the break, with Kasper Dolberg leveling the match in the 39th minute.

Moments after the restart, Qarabağ regained the lead thanks to a powerful effort from defender Matheus Silva in the 47th minute.

But the final phase of the match belonged to Ajax.
In the 79th minute, midfielder Oscar Gloukh equalized, shifting the momentum to the visitors. Four minutes later, Anton Goeij scored to give Ajax their first lead of the night. Deep into stoppage time, Gloukh struck again to complete his brace and seal a 4–2 victory for the Amsterdam side.
