Baku, October 1, 2025
Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ FK continued its strong Champions League campaign with a 2–0 home victory over Denmark’s FC Copenhagen at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
Managed by long-time coach Qurban Qurbanov, Qarabağ broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Abdellah Zoubir found the net. The win was sealed late in the match as Emmanuel Addai struck in the 83rd minute, sending home fans into celebration.
The result follows Qarabağ’s stunning 3–2 away win over Benfica in Portugal during the opening round, placing the Azerbaijani champions in a commanding position in Group Stage play.
Copenhagen, meanwhile, had opened its campaign with a 2–2 home draw against Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen, but could not match Qarabağ’s pace and efficiency in Baku.
With two consecutive victories, Qarabağ has underlined its status as one of the surprises of this year’s Champions League group stage – a run that has boosted both the club’s European reputation and Azerbaijan’s standing in continental football.
