The U.S. Embassy Baku has issued an urgent security alert advising U.S. citizens to leave Iran immediately amid heightened regional tensions.
In its statement, the embassy said Americans should consider overland departure via Turkey or Armenia, if it is safe to do so.
The alert also warns that entry into Azerbaijan from Iran may be restricted for U.S. citizens during periods of elevated tension, citing past disruptions during the June 2025 escalation between Iran and Israel.
U.S. citizens with an urgent need to depart Iran are urged to plan alternative routes and closely monitor official guidance as conditions may change rapidly. The embassy emphasized that border access and transit options can be affected without notice during security crises.
