The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has officially dismissed a false report circulating online that allegedly urged American citizens to leave the country immediately.
“You may have come across a fake ‘urgent message’ spread by disinformation websites. While it’s clear the content is false, such incidents serve as important reminders to remain vigilant against disinformation,” the embassy said in a statement.
Officials emphasized the importance of relying solely on official sources for accurate and timely information. “All critical updates are posted through verified channels and are updated regularly,” the statement noted.
As of now, the travel advisory level for Azerbaijan remains at Level 2, which is the same as for countries like Italy and Spain, according to the embassy—encouraging caution but not indicating any specific threat.
