The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a public reminder outlining what activities are allowed – and prohibited – for holders of B1/B2 visitor visas, stressing that travelers are responsible for using their visas correctly and in accordance with U.S. immigration law.
In a statement shared on the Embassy’s official Facebook page, officials said the United States is committed to facilitating lawful travel while strictly enforcing visa regulations.
According to the Embassy, activities permitted on a B1/B2 visa include:
Tourism and sightseeing
Vacation and leisure travel
Shopping
Visiting friends or relatives
Meetings with business partners
Attending conventions, conferences, and seminars
The Embassy also highlighted several activities that are not allowed under the B1/B2 category, including:
“Birth tourism,” where the primary purpose of travel is to give birth in the U.S. to obtain citizenship for the child
Any form of employment or receiving payment from a U.S. company or employer
Moving to the United States to live with friends or relatives
Paid performances or commercial appearances
Studying in programs that award academic credit or degrees (which requires a student visa)
The Embassy emphasized that individuals who hold U.S. visitor visas must ensure that their travel purpose aligns with visa regulations to avoid violations that could lead to denial of entry or future visa ineligibility.
