Washington, D.C. – The U.S. State Department has responded to reports claiming that former President Donald Trump’s administration submitted proposals to Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the opening of transport and communication links in the South Caucasus.
In a written response to Armenia’s state-run Armenpress news agency, a State Department spokesperson said the United States supports initiatives that promote peace and stability in the region.
However, the spokesperson added that the department has no information about any such proposals made under the Trump administration.
The comment comes amid renewed regional diplomatic efforts and speculation about past U.S. involvement in post-war reconstruction and connectivity initiatives between Armenia and Azerbaijan following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
