U.S. Backs Ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan Dialogue, Announces Creation of Joint Working Groups

The United States plans to launch the first joint working groups with Azerbaijan and Armenia before the end of 2025, marking a new stage in the implementation of the Washington peace agreements signed in August. According to the U.S. State Department’s press service, the initiative will focus on deepening cooperation with both governments in line with the Joint Declarations and Memorandums of Understanding adopted on August 8 in Washington.

“The United States remains committed to implementing the historic agreements signed in Washington and will ensure the creation of the first working groups with both governments before the end of the year,” the statement said.

The working groups are expected to cover areas such as infrastructure development, border delimitation, demining, and the TRIPP project – the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” – which aims to connect Azerbaijan, Armenia, and regional partners through new transport corridors.

The State Department also commended the continuing dialogue and practical cooperation between Baku and Yerevan:

“We welcome recent substantive discussions on infrastructure, demining, and the TRIPP initiative between representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We also view positively Azerbaijan’s recent decision to permit cargo transit through Armenian territory and the civil society meeting held in Yerevan,” the statement said.

U.S. officials stressed that these efforts, supported by American leadership, are intended to attract private investment and open a new era of peace and prosperity for the South Caucasus.
