EDIRNE, July 27, 2025 — Turkey remains firmly committed to the opening of the Zangezur Corridor, and work on the project continues, according to Turkish media reports.
Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), made the statement during a party meeting in Edirne. He emphasized that concrete steps are being taken to establish the corridor, which he said would transform the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) into a key regional alliance fostering peace and prosperity.
“The corridor will ensure direct land connectivity between Turkey and Azerbaijan,” Zorlu said.
“Our esteemed president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has a strong will on this matter, and serious discussions are ongoing between Ankara and Baku.”
He added that the Zangezur Corridor is not only important for Turkey and Azerbaijan, but for the broader region as well: “Cargo departing from China’s borders will reach Europe through this route via Turkey.”
