Turkey plans to boost its natural gas imports from Russia, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan as the winter season approaches, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Thursday, according to CNN Türk.
“We cannot tell our citizens that there is no gas. We must secure as much supply as possible from Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan,” Bayraktar stated.

“Access to these resources must be ensured without discrimination in deliveries.”
The minister also noted that state energy company BOTAŞ is continuing talks on gas imports.
“A year ago, important negotiations on LNG were held in the United States. In March this year, we advanced the process in Houston. We have been updating the public. Recently, Turkey signed eight natural gas agreements. We are not limiting ourselves to deals with the U.S.,” he added.
The push reflects Ankara’s effort to balance multiple sources of energy supply amid rising demand, volatile global prices, and geopolitical competition over pipeline routes.
