Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has confirmed that Ankara has relayed Washington’s stance regarding the potential resumption of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program to Tehran.
Speaking to TRT Haber following the BRICS summit in Brazil, Fidan stated:
“At present, a ceasefire remains in effect, and we observe that all parties are complying with it. However, there remains significant uncertainty about the revival of talks on the nuclear file.”
Fidan noted that he discussed the issue on the sidelines of the summit with Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi.
“The views of the American side have been communicated to Iran,” he said, adding that he had also met with U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff just four days prior to discuss the matter.
The Turkish minister emphasized that Ankara hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough:
“We hope a resolution will be reached through dialogue as soon as possible.”
The statement reflects Turkey’s growing role as a mediator between Tehran and Washington, amid heightened regional tensions and an uncertain future for the stalled nuclear negotiations.
