Businesses and organizations in Azerbaijan that fail to register with tax authorities within 30 days will face a financial penalty of 200 manats, according to amendments proposed to the Tax Code and discussed at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship.
Under current law, taxpayers – excluding commercial and public legal entities, as well as branches and representative offices of foreign commercial organizations – are required to submit a registration application to the tax authorities based on their place of residence or business location.
For non-commercial legal entities, the application must be submitted within 30 days after state registration. In the case of foreign branches or representative offices conducting business in Azerbaijan, the same deadline applies – 30 days from the date of establishment.
The proposed amendment seeks to tighten compliance and encourage greater transparency in business registration, which authorities view as a crucial step in improving the efficiency of the national tax system.
