Social media platforms have become the primary source of information for young people in Azerbaijan, gradually overtaking traditional television, analysts say.
Experts note that discussions about protecting the Azerbaijani language are often misunderstood. Rather than restrictions or controls, they argue that language development depends on culture, media content, and creative industries.
According to the discussion, Azerbaijani media space is increasingly influenced by Turkish and Russian content through films, TV series, and digital platforms. At the same time, platforms such as TikTok and Instagram now shape media habits among younger audiences.
Analysts conclude that without stronger support for culture, cinema, literature, and digital content, efforts to promote the national language are unlikely to be effective.
