The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Germany’s Uniper SE held talks on the possible purchase of additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas, underscoring Baku’s growing role in Europe’s energy security.
The discussions took place within the framework of the 9th meeting of the Coordination Committee, where SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf met with Carsten Poppinga, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE and CEO of Uniper Global Commodities SE.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with their long-standing and effective partnership. The meeting focused on strategic development goals, achievements to date, and new opportunities to deepen cooperation.
Uniper was noted as one of the key European partners purchasing Azerbaijani gas and supplying it to European markets. The two companies also exchanged views on expanding ties in the upstream sector, enhancing knowledge exchange, and pursuing joint initiatives of mutual interest.
