Six Azerbaijani citizens – two women and four children – have been repatriated from Syria and placed in a state-run social welfare facility, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

According to the ministry, the return took place on October 22 as part of coordinated government efforts to repatriate Azerbaijani nationals affected by the armed conflict in Syria.

The operation was carried out jointly with relevant state agencies after confirming the individuals’ identities and citizenship.

The Social Services Agency reported that the repatriated citizens are currently undergoing medical, psychological, and social assessments.

“Primary medical, social, and psychological assistance has been provided. Specialists and psychologists will now evaluate their condition to plan further rehabilitation and integration support,” the agency said.

The MFA added that during the mission, Azerbaijani representatives also held meetings with Syrian authorities regarding future repatriation procedures.

“Work will continue to bring home Azerbaijani citizens who became victims of armed conflicts abroad,” the ministry stated.

The latest operation is part of a broader humanitarian policy under which Azerbaijan has periodically returned women and children from conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, providing them with rehabilitation, education, and reintegration programs upon arrival.
