BAKU, August 1, 2025 — Azerbaijani weightlifter Magomedali Mamedzade delivered a stellar performance at the U-15 European Weightlifting Championships in Madrid, clinching two silver medals in the 88 kg weight category.
According to the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, Mamedzade lifted 122 kg in the snatch, securing second place. In the clean and jerk, he added 147 kg, bringing his total to an impressive 269 kg — enough to earn him silver overall.
His teammate Ayhan Mamedov, competing in the same weight class, placed sixth with a total lift of 218 kg (102 kg in the snatch and 116 kg in the clean and jerk).
The young lifters’ performances marked a strong finish for Team Azerbaijan at the championship, highlighting the country’s continued success in youth weightlifting on the European stage.
