BAKU — September 2, 2025.
Borrowers from the microfinance company Azpulmat have reported receiving threatening phone calls from people posing as “court preparation officers,” demanding that debts be repaid within a single day.
According to posts circulating on social media, the callers — often young women — warn that cases will be taken to court if payments are not made immediately. They claim that once a lawsuit is filed, debtors will face enforcement orders and daily penalties of up to 7 percent until full repayment.
In response to an inquiry from Oxu.Az, Azpulmat denied any connection to the calls. The company stressed that repayment terms and penalties are strictly regulated by law, and that any official communication regarding enforcement comes only from court-appointed officers.
“Azpul employees receive client calls at any time, provide consultations, and respond to questions or complaints,” the company said in a statement. “If clients encounter any violations, they should immediately contact our 24/7 call center at 1670.”
Despite the denial, rumors on social networks suggest that Azpulmat itself may have hired callers to pressure clients into paying outstanding debts — a claim the company firmly rejects through its official statements.
