Russia has launched a large‑scale drone attack on a gas transmission facility in Ukraine near the Romanian border, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reported.
According to the ministry, the targeted compressor station handled gas imports from Azerbaijan and the United States. The site is part of a route linking Greek LNG terminals with Ukraine’s underground gas storage via the Trans‑Balkan Gas Pipeline — a corridor that has already delivered LNG from the U.S. and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas.
“This Russian strike was aimed purely at civilian infrastructure, deliberately targeting the energy sector and, at the same time, relations with Azerbaijan, the United States, and European partners — as well as the normal life of Ukrainians and all Europeans,” the ministry said in a statement.
