Prices Decline in Azerbaijan, But Experts Warn It’s Temporary

Baku, July 18, 2025 — Consumer prices in Azerbaijan recorded a slight drop in June, according to official statistics released this week. Compared to May, overall prices fell by 0.4%, with food prices leading the decline at 1.3%.

This monthly drop has slightly eased the upward trend in annual inflation. While the inflation rate climbed from 5.4% in January to 6.3% in May, it edged down to 6.0% in June.

Economist Rəşad Həsənov linked the decline primarily to lower prices for fruits and vegetables. “The reduction is mostly due to seasonal drops in fruit and vegetable prices. Other products have actually seen slight increases,” he said.

Həsənov cautioned that the price decline is not the result of systemic reforms and should be viewed as temporary.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan forecasts annual inflation to average 5.3% in 2025, within its target range of 2% to 6%.
