BAKU, July 26, 2025 — Azerbaijan’s Presidential Foreign Policy Advisor, Hikmet Hajiyev, has responded to reports about potential U.S. company involvement in the Zangezur Corridor project, emphasizing that the issue lies solely with Armenia.
In an interview with Berliner Zeitung, Hajiyev said: “Whether they [Armenia] cooperate with American companies is their business. We are focused on our agenda — expanding transport links and building ties with all our neighbors: Georgia, Iran, and Russia. Overall, such connectivity will benefit the entire region. If Yerevan is willing, we would like to jointly develop the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.”
Hajiyev also sharply criticized the OSCE Minsk Group, calling for it to be “consigned to the dustbin of history.”
“We want the OSCE Minsk Group to be buried in history. It was a diplomatic failure — 30 years of fruitless mediation with no tangible results in resolving the conflict,” he said.
He warned of growing revisionist and revanchist tendencies within Armenian society aimed at undermining the new regional status quo.
“We must pay close attention to the wave of revanchism in Armenia. There are already efforts to challenge the new post-conflict realities. Armenian youth are being indoctrinated for future confrontation and war — this is absolutely unacceptable. The Armenian government needs to address this trend. I believe constitutional changes would be an important step in stopping it,” Hajiyev stated.
