President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 20 for an official state visit, marking another milestone in the steadily deepening partnership between the two countries.
A guard of honor was lined up in Aliyev’s honor at the Astana International Airport, where he was personally welcomed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders greeted each other warmly as a military band performed the national anthems, and the honor guard marched past the presidents.
Bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have reached a new level in recent years, driven by the close cooperation and mutual trust between the two heads of state.
In 2025, the trade turnover between the two countries reached $547 million, a 2.5-fold increase compared to two or three years ago. The countries also established a Joint Investment Fund with an authorized capital of $300 million to support large-scale projects.
Kazakh lawmaker Yerlan Sairov, commenting on the visit, told AZERTAC that Kazakhstan continues to assist Azerbaijan in rebuilding the Karabakh region, noting the construction of the Kurmanqazy Center for Children’s Creativity in Fuzuli as a symbol of friendship.
“Trade and humanitarian cooperation between our nations are expanding rapidly. President Aliyev’s visit holds enormous importance for strengthening social and economic ties, boosting industrial cooperation, and advancing transport connectivity between Europe and Asia through Azerbaijan,” Sairov said.
“The Kazakh public warmly welcomes this visit. We are confident that the potential of our two countries is immense – for joint development and a shared future.”
