President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree awarding Sevil Heydar gizi Aliyeva the Order of “Sharaf” (Honor) for her outstanding contribution to the development of Azerbaijani musical art.
Sevil Aliyeva, a renowned composer and producer, is recognized as one of the key figures who helped shape the country’s modern pop and film music scene. Over several decades, her creative work has bridged classical Azerbaijani traditions with contemporary styles, producing songs that became part of the nation’s cultural memory.
In the 1990s, Aliyeva founded Sevil Music Studio, supporting emerging artists and introducing new production standards to Azerbaijani pop music. Her compositions, often noted for their melodic depth and emotional sincerity, remain widely performed by leading Azerbaijani singers.
Sevil Aliyeva, the daughter of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijan, and sister of President Ilham Aliyev, will celebrate her 70th birthday on October 12.
The state award acknowledges both her artistic legacy and her role in nurturing the country’s cultural identity through music.
