Poultry Prices Surge in Azerbaijan Ahead of Holiday Season

Must read

A sudden surge in poultry prices has been observed in both Baku and regional markets over the past several days, with the cost of turkey and goose meat rising by 4-5 manats per kilogram on average.

According to ATV, the increase in turkey prices traditionally occurs ahead of the New Year holidays, but this year the spike began much earlier. In several districts, the price per kilogram of turkey has risen by 4-5 manats just within the past week.

Vendors attribute the jump partly to the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease among cattle, which has led to higher demand for poultry. This shift in consumer preference has affected not only turkey prices but also goose and duck meat.

Currently, turkey sells for 16–20 manats per kilogram, compared to around 14 manats previously. Goose meat is priced between 13 and 15 manats, reaching up to 18 manats in some markets. Duck meat now averages 14-16 manats per kilogram.

Sellers predict that prices are likely to continue climbing as the New Year season approaches, driven by seasonal demand and reduced livestock availability.
