Peskov: Russia Has Built Immunity to Western Sanctions

Russia’s economy continues to function successfully under Western sanctions, and according to the Kremlin, the country has developed a certain “immunity” to them.

Speaking at a press briefing, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to a TASS question regarding the U.S.’s latest announcement of a new round of sanctions set to be imposed in ten days.

“We’ve been living under an enormous number of sanctions for quite a long time, and our economy continues to function,” Peskov said. “Naturally, we’ve built up a certain level of immunity.”

The remarks come in response to statements from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has pledged to give Russia and Ukraine 50 days to reach an agreement, after which he plans to impose 100% tariffs on Moscow and its trade partners. However, Trump has since shortened the timeline to just 10 days starting from July 30.

While Moscow has yet to comment directly on the revised ultimatum, Kremlin officials have repeatedly stressed the country’s resilience in the face of mounting Western pressure.
