Pashinyan Links Azerbaijan Deal to Strategic Armenia–Iran Railway Corridor

Yerevan, August 19, 2025 – Armenian Prime Minister  stated today that the agreement with Azerbaijan will pave the way for the reopening of regional transport links, including a direct railway connection between Armenia and Iran.

Speaking at a joint press briefing in Yerevan with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Pashinyan emphasized that the deal with Baku has “a key component related to the restoration of communication routes.” According to him, this framework will allow practical steps toward railway cooperation with Tehran.

“In particular, the Nakhchivan–Julfa railway line will provide Iran with rail access to Armenia and, ultimately, to the Black Sea,” Pashinyan said.
