Pashinyan: “Ending the Region’s Blockade Will Serve the Interests of All Countries”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says a potential regional agreement could bring unprecedented economic and strategic benefits not only to Armenia, Azerbaijan, the U.S., and Turkey, but also to Russia and Iran.

Speaking to Fox News, Pashinyan argued that the deal and its accompanying declaration offer “significant, tangible advantages” for Tehran and Moscow. “If this agreement is implemented, for example, Iran would gain railway access from the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea. Both Russia and Iran could establish a direct rail link between the two countries,” he said.

Pashinyan stressed that the South Caucasus currently has no railway connection linking Iran to Russia — a gap the deal could fill. “If we focus on the economic dimension, the benefits will be considerable and truly unprecedented,” he noted.
