Pashinyan: Construction of “Trump Route” to Begin in Second Half of 2026

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that construction on the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) is planned to start in the second half of 2026. The statement was made during a government Q&A session in Armenia’s parliament, broadcast live by national TV channels.

“As for the TRIPP roadmap, we intend to finalize all project details by the end of this year. In the first half of 2026, we will coordinate the plan, and in the second half, we plan to begin construction,” Pashinyan said.

The prime minister noted that he initially did not want to publicly disclose the timeline, since “there are usually schedule deviations in such large projects.” However, he emphasized that the Armenian side would “do everything possible to avoid delays and complete all work on time.”

“This project will be implemented quickly – at a fast pace and in full accordance with the declaration signed in Washington,” Pashinyan added.

Background

The TRIPP initiative – officially titled “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” – emerged following the August 8 trilateral summit in Washington, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

At that meeting, the parties signed a joint declaration on peace and the establishment of transport links between the mainland of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The project envisions the creation of a transport corridor passing through Armenia, forming part of the broader Eurasian connectivity framework.

Pashinyan’s comments mark the first time the Armenian government has provided a specific implementation schedule for TRIPP – an initiative widely regarded as a cornerstone of post-conflict regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.
