Armenia will remove Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı) from its passport entry/exit stamps starting November 1, 2025, under a cabinet decision adopted on September 11. Officials say the redesign is administrative and symbolic, not political
Arthur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the ruling Civil Contract party, said the change aims to avoid sending “dangerous messages” to neighboring states and should not be given an emotional reading.
He added that Ararat’s image carries symbolic value and does not imply territorial claims, and that while broader changes to state imagery are possible in future, no discussion is underway about altering the national coat of arms.
Local outlets previously reported the stamp change after the government session, noting the start date and formal basis of the decision.
