Murder of Azerbaijani Businessman in Russia Sparks Investigation

In Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, police have confirmed the murder of Azerbaijani businessman Ilgar Khanadanov, whose body was discovered five days after he went missing near the town of Zarechny.

The 49-year-old entrepreneur was last seen on October 24, returning home from a visit to the village of Mezenskoe.

According to his wife Tatiana, Khanadanov received a tense phone call on the way, stopped his car, and remained alone after his friend was picked up by her shortly afterward. He never made it home.

“On October 29, they found my husband dead,” Tatiana told E1.RU. “The investigators worked late into the night. We’ve been told this was a murder case. The funeral will take place in Zarechny, after which his body will be transported to Azerbaijan to be buried beside his family.”

Search teams later found Khanadanov’s white Mercedes abandoned in a forest area, with bloodstains inside the vehicle but no documents or phone. Investigators confirmed that the keys remained in the ignition.

Relatives insist the businessman had no known conflicts or debts and was respected locally. “If someone attacked him, he would have fought back,” his brother said. “He must have trusted the person he went to meet.”

Khanadanov was a private entrepreneur who owned a small fast-food business in Zarechny. Police have launched a criminal investigation into his death.
